Mad City Soap
There are many reasons I am a big fan of homemade products and small businesses. Part of it is because you know when you are purchasing from a small business you are purchasing someone's dream. Think about it, It's not that easy to start a business with quality products at an affordable price and start making a profit from it while competing with well known name brands, it's literally an uphill battle. When someone loves what they are doing/selling obviously they are going to put every effort they can into their product. Also most small beauty businesses (at least the ones that I shop) aim towards natural/safe ingredients and are cruelty free. Please don't get me wrong I'm not saying big businesses don't do these things, there just is something about small businesses that just make me feel all glitterlike on the inside.
I was introduced to this obsession thanks to my awesome Aunt, who back in the day used to have her own small business making jewelry for fun. No longer selling her jewelry she now sends me massive amounts of beauty products from other small businesses and keeps me beautiful! (Kidding, I swear I'm not that vain)
A while back my Aunt sent me home with a bag full of goodies after a nice lunch date. Included in my magic bag was Double Butter Body Cream in Cotton Candy Twist 4oz tub made by Mad City Soap LLC.
I can honestly say I'm pretty impressed, Its lasted quite a long time as you can see from the tag starting to rub off. I find body butter to be a bit greasy especially on my hands, which I don't necessarily mind when my skin is dry or my cuticles are all sorts of messed up. What I like about Mad City Soap is it's more moisturizing than greasy when comparing them to other body butters... aka I can open the door after slathering one on and not get stuck in a room because the nob slips and I can't get the darn door open (I know its happened to you too okay!) And the smell is pretty delightful as well, not too strong and not too light... just right ;)
Looking at the ingredients I recognize pretty much all of them:
Water, Theobroma Cacao (Cocoa) Seed Butter, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter), Emulsifying Wax NF, Stearic Acid, Caprylic/Capric Triglycerides, Vitis Vinifera (Grapeseed) Oil, Glyceryl Mono Stearate, Camellia Sinensis (Japanese Green Tea) Leaf Extract, Ascorbic Acid (Vitamin C), Tocopherol (Vitamin E), Allantoin, Fragrance, Phenoxyethanol, and Caprylyl Glycol
Sue, the owner, has over 50 scents to choose from and can make customized body butters. Some of the yummy scents include Almond Coconut, Chipotle Caramel, Marshmallow Cream Cake, Orchid Rain, Sweat Pea, Beach, and Sex Bomb.
That's not all she sells though. You can find sugar scrubs, body oil mists, perfumes, soaps, anddeep hair conditioners.
